after 3 days rain, water was accumulating to the side of my house. the spot is lower than other lawn. water seems to receed when no rain today. i am thinking of planting trees which suck up those water. is there any better solution?

That is an indication that there is not proper drainage going on. I would suggest either digging up some of the top soil and tossing in gravel to help. Or just tossing pea gravel over the entire area, and just walk over the top of it. Trees planted too close to a house will trash the foundation of the house causing bigger problems and more expensive as well because of root growth.

put in a french drain. a 4" pipe with holes in it and gravel around it lead it down to a road drain or ditch. check with home depo they will know what i am talking about.
