It depends on what you want to use the computer for. PC has more OS options like windows or linux and there are others. Where as a mac you OS is the mac OS. You don't get a decision. PC's typically crash more and have more viruses cuz that's the most used type out there. However, if you switch from windows to linux, viruses and crashes will decrease because linux isn't as popular and it runs soo much better, but it doesn't give you many program options. With a mac, they run better, don't get as many viruses becasue again of the popularity. Mac's are also easier to upgrade. I know it sounds funny, but that commercial is actually correct. PC's cost more to upgrade where mac isn't as expensive the few extra parts you would have to upgrade. But it also depends on what you are going to do like i said before. Games and basic utilities (Word, powerpoint, internet, etc) I would go with pc. It runs computer graphics a little better and is more common. But if your looking for a computer to do art, picture editing, or video editing, the mac is a better system for that. It's easier and less likely to crash. My advice is to think about what you are going to use your computer for the most of it, then go to your local computer store. I suggest looking for a privately owned one because they know their stuff better than the big businesses. But if you can't find one, go to multiple superstores (best buy, circuit city, fry's, etc..) and get multiple opinions cuz their sells person/s usually don't know everything.

I have a pc now, this is my third one, and I am so used to it, I don't think I would buy a mac, in the near future. I think you will have to make that decision on your own, but it's a good question, to get different points of view..Good Luck..

i've got 3 pc's and a mac mini...... for sure if i had know how much b.s. fixes, patches, security issues, hackers, lost hard drives, and alll around trouble the dam windows units would be, i never would have got them.... and vista is just as bad if not worse.
for the home user; get a mac; everything you need is right there. no periferal aftermarket stuff, security, no updates, etc.
for business, MAYBE pc..... as a last resort.

i am upgrading in the next few months and my obvious choice is a intel core duo processor
i am going for this basically to future proof my main p.c in the house, and the p.c will come with 2gb ram,x1950 graphics and 300gb sata hdd
the p.c its replacing is a pentium 4,120gb hdd,1gb ram and a radeon 9550 gpu,this will become the second p.c in the house,and the current second p.c(which i am using now) is a amd athlon 3200+,1gb ram,2 x 80gb hdd,and a geforce 6600gt graphic card
i will be taking the geforce out of the amd p,c and putting it into the pentium 4,along with 512mb of memory so to boost it to 1.5gb ram
i should be able to sell the amd 3200+ with just 512mb ram and a radeon 9550,probally ask for around £70 for that(without monitor)
oh yes the core duo will come with vista premium!
take care mate
