Im looking at some jobs right now and some of them have:
"Temporary - renewable, end date to be determined.."
What EXACTLY does this mean? Does it mean that once the end date is determined I am COMPLETELY out of a job? Will it keep renewing if they decide they still NEED me to work? Is this actually reliable if I want to keep a job?

P.S.... This is a place i would like to work for...can i just apply for this "temp" job to get my foot in the door?

Well, it sounds like the job will end at some point, and if they still need that job, they will renew it. I think that a lot of people use these types of jobs to just to get their foot in the door. That is what I've done at my job. I got a full time perm within 6 months. A temp is better than no job at all. Good Luck!

well in my experience, it is a temporary job in which management has an idea of how long they need you for in order to complete the assignement. So let's say they think they need you for 6 months and towards the end of 6 months..they still need help, well then they may renew your term for however long. But at anytime they can terminate you too if there is less work.
Like I worked at a job that was temp-renew and the initial appointment was for 6months. they had no idea how long the task would take..turns out I was there almost 2 years. Then because the task was complete and there was no more work they laid us off. The downside is you totally do not know. You can be in a job with an initial appointment of 6 months and they may decide to lay some off at 6 months and keep some on for longer. If this is the type of work you are interested in, you should do it, even though it is temp, because it will give you experience, and sometimes permanent jobs within the company become available that you will then be eligible to apply for...which you might not be eligible for if you were off the street with no experience there. I'd say though as far as how long.. it depends on the field and you should ask someone in HR..in their experience how long they could see the position lasting.
