what a nice question, Lily....I had my only child after 3 years of infertility surgerys and she was, ironically, born on Thanksgiving! I remember looking at her as I first held her and thinking that I was the only one who had ever created such a miracle. It's a heady feeling and I wish you much joy!

I was shocked. I had no idea what they were when they were inside of me. I mean, I knew it was a baby, but I didnt know I could love something so much the first time I ever saw it. I had twins, and the first few weeks were kinda crazy. I didnt know what to do. I paniked alot lol. But now they are 18 months, and I had a 5 month old, and am just fine! Good luck!

I have had two babies and with both of them, I was in total awe.
I can't find the words to express the feelings I had when I held both my newborns in my arms for the very first time. To take in their beauty and tiny perfections was just a totally overwhelming feeling of love for them.
The weeks that followed were kind of surreal. Each time I held them, nursed them, changed them or just watched them sleeping, was like an incredible dream for me.
I was in a total daze, full of wonder and amazement.
All the best with your first born....what a wonderful gift from God.

It is the most AMAZING feeling in the world. There truly aren't enough words to describe it. I just remember thinking...Oh my God...I made this little person and she is absolutely beautiful!
And yes...it is the same for the father as well. His feelings area little different I think, and they may not express them as much or as well, but almost ALL men cry when they first see their child and it is sheer joy and disbelief that he/she is so perfect...a whole person!
My youngest is now almost three months old and I still just sit and stare at her.
My oldest is going to be 13 years old in July, and I still catch myself staring at her the same way I did when she was a newborn. I am so amazed by how quickly they grow up!
Children are an amazing thing....at any age!
Good luck and Congrats!

i was so scared when i held my daughter for the first time she was only 5 lbs 8 oz and 19 inches long. i had no idea what to do. my boyfriend was so excited he didnt know what to do either he has a son from another marrage and now he has a little girl. everyone was so happy to have a little girl finally. she is his moms first granddaughter (3 grandsons) befor you hae kids you think that you could never love anyone more then your spouce then it all changes. both me and my boyfriend would do anything for the kids befor our selves or eachother. last weekend both kids were so sick they had to be in the hospital and all we did was worry about them even though we were both sick. having kids changes your thaughts all together. there will be lots of worry and other emptions but it all depends and you will go through alot of differend ones when you have the baby. as for dads it all depends.

At first yes i loved my baby but I love him more today at 5 months than I did at first. I don't know why but I love him more and more everyday.
As far as is it the same for tha daddy? Well I don't think it is. A mothers love for her child is much different than the love from the father for his child.
A mothers love is something special.

I didn't really get to hold my baby......So many other people got to though and I hope it was good for them because now I am finally getting to know my baby. It is nice to stare into his eyes and talk to him. I still can't believe he came out of me and that me and my husband made him! It is crazy! I love every second he smiles and cries and everytime I have to change his stinky diaper or wipe his pee off of me or clean his spit up off of my neck and back. It is a joy. I wouldn't change it for the world!

OMG it is amazing, I had to have an emergency c-section, my husband was there with me and when they pulled her out she was crying and my husband said "its ok daddys here" and she quit. He talked to my belly the whole time I was pregnant and she remembered his voice. Then they have her to him and I cried and he cried it was great, its really something you cant explain. Congratulations!!

Well, my first thoughts were incomprehensible, due to the drugs and the fatigue and physical shock, but I remember holding her and saying, "Hello, there" over and over.
