what people don't realise when it comes to products like that, makeup, toliet paper, diapers...they are all made by the same plant or maker. The maker then sells the product and places it in the name brand package for a fee. Most of those items are exactly the same as the genertic brands. You are truelly buying a label and the design of the bottle than what is in side the package.
My favorite tanning item is Banana Boat Tanning Oil with Carrots. There is no sunscreen in it so its simple for coloring. You spray on and lay out in your back yard from 5 to 10 mintues or until the oil dries..what it does is dry into your skin and the color in the bottle turns your skin a nice shade of brown because of the carrots..NO Orange..Brown.. Then afterwards you put on you sunblock of SPF what ever number you need and it locks the color in. You do this two or three times a week and you will look like you spent a month in the bahamas.

Hi there. I am tanning/ fake tanning expert. Trust me, ive tried and used everything. From banana boat to jergens natural glow. But no one can beat the L'Oreal sublime Bronze series. There are a good chain of products from this brand. Now, the sublime bronze gradual tanner (or sublime glow, they change the name for that bottle) has a daily "gradual self tan lotion", which works like the Olay touch of sun. Only it gives way better colour and no streaks. Then you have the sublime bronze tinted self tanner. Which is a stronger version of the gradual tanning lotion from L'Oreal sublime bronze. Since you did mention you are pale, i'd definafely go with the L'Oreal sublime bronze (or glow, since the new bottle design says sublime glow) because you can build it gradually. The more gradual, the less likely to streak. If you do feel confident of your built color, then add on to ot with the tinted self tanner, since youd alreayd be darker! Tjat way streaking would not occur. They also a tinted gel thats a one day tanner, which basically never streaks due tothe fact that its just like applying a liquid bronzer, u will always see where exactly ghe color is building bc its washable with soap! Tips on applying self tanner/gradual tanning lotions 1. Exfoliat-rub off your dead skin! 2. Moisturize! I cannot stress this enough, your elbows knees ankles and any drier areas with crevases and cracks will always absorb more! 3. Apply evenly! Circular motion to cover all areas! 4. Wash hands thuroughly after! I use latex gloves! Go figure :) 5. Dont forget to dry off for a good 5-10min before putting on clothing! Good luck xxx

I've tried some of the cheap stuff @ Wal-Mart - not that great. The best deal for the money is Sally's Beauty Supply. Sally's carries name-brand tanning lotions for a good price ($7 - $15)

Difference: Quality, Price, Scent, and especially....Name.
People pay to know Jessica Simpson uses it or it's a Clinque best-buy. There is nothing wrong with walmart ones, in fact I've tried 3 and love them they work too if you are consistent with putting them on: Dove, Sublime Glow, and Jergens. The last two even have a few sparkles in them! If your not to sure, ask for a sample at the counter when shopping for expensive kinds. If not, what do you have to lose with a $7 bottle of lotion? Happy Spring!

Are you talking about the self-tanning lotions, or the suntan lotions?
There is very little difference between the suntan lotions -- check the list of active ingredients, they are almost identical -- but stay away from the cheap "instant tan" lotions --- unless you want to look like an Umpaloompa!

I haven't tried any Wal-Mart brands, but the Walgreens Sunless Tanning Lotion worked great, smelled good, and best of all was ridiculously cheap (I'm very pale and got the medium to dark). Another good one to use is Banana Boat. Jergens didn't work for me at all plus I didn't like the smell of it.

No difference. They are about the same. I have a tanning bed and I buy my lotions at Wal Mart all the time. I prefer saving $20.00-$30.00 instead of buying those high priced ones. I cant see that they give a better result. You just pay for the name.
