There's really only ONE correct answer to this question: after over 3,000 years, he's still recognized and loved by MILLIONS of people world-wide. His name is mentioned in ancient literature more than ANYONE, and what he wrote carries great weight in influencing our daily lives in these "modern" times even though it was written so long ago. Most importantly, he wasn't afraid to expose his weaknesses and make himself vulnerable as a REAL man, a man of great integrity, honour, strength, courage, leadership, compassion, love, honesty, wisdom, and humility, a man who made it clear that he was both spiritual, yet still very much HUMAN, one will for ever be known as "a man after God's own heart".
Who was this? Why, KING DAVID, the "sweet psalmist of Israel" who wrote very much of the Old Testament, acknowledged as the greatest of Israel's kings. Because of this, no Biblical figure was more typical of the One who came 1,000 years after he died, the One they called the "Son of David", the GREAT AND ALMIGHTY "King of Israel", none other than JESUS CHRIST! That is why King David in THE BIBLE is the MOST famous person named "David" in history! He pointed others to HIS CREATOR, not HIMSELF!
