Henry VIII represents all that is quite bad about human beings. He was greedy, a glutton, self-centered, a murderer, and he began a church called the Anglican church because he disagreed with the Pope who would not grant him a divorce from Katherine of Arragon. Not your every day Joe whom you would want as a friend. After he broke with Rome he had hundreds of clergy beheaded for not swearing loyalty to him as head of the church instead of the Pope. Nice guy.

Chow!!

I am assuming changing the religion so he could divorce and remarry?

as well as being able to kill all of his wives.

I believe at the time he had no other way to get an heir to the thrown and therefore would have to relinquish it to possibly another country or some else in succession to the thrown which would not keep him within any power once he relinquished it. thru age or what have you.

His fears took hold and with his aides gave him no alternative. To which the only way was with what he did.

Do I agree, yes.

Yes, he took a country that had been backsliding for centuries and caught them up with the rest of the world. I always hate it that Henry VIII is so misunderstood. He wasn't really a tyrant.

No for some-they were motivated by a lack of knowledge and a bit of insanity.

Yes for others-they helped keep the country together.

Now, go read the notes from class and do your homework, or at the very least put enough information in here to get a relevant response.

Martin, do your own homework, dear. Your teacher doesn't want to know what I know about Henry VIII.

His actions? what actions. He had a short Wife expectancy.
2 died of natural causes, 2 were beheaded, 2 were divorced I think. He didn't' behead them all. (That's what I remember reading)

Yes, the bitches all deserved to be beheaded for cheating on the King!

And splitting the Church was a GREAT idea! It meant Priests in the UL could get married and have SEX!!!

WAHOOOO!!!!!

Refusing to finance Columbus and forcing him to turn to Spain was a judgment error though.
