I personally think the IUD is a bad idea for girls and women who have never given birth. Maybe it would work better if you were a really tall girl who had a slightly bigger uterus, but I had one and was never so sick in my life! I bled for the whole year I had it in, I had night sweats and incredible nausea (to the point that I lost 25+ pounds).
I was so sick by the time they took it out, the docs were wondering if I had lupus. Anemic as heck, and ended up in the ER twice for unexplained abdominal pains. I think IUD's can cause inflammatory reactions, particularly if you are tiny and never had a child. I would especially discourage any woman who has endometriosis from getting an IUD. You will cramp much much worse.
No, I didn't gain weight because I got really sick. Didn't get pregnant, but really sick. I found that the low-dose birth control pill works best for me.
Good luck.

Nope.
I actually lost weight.
It made me cramp up for atleast a week... so I really didn't feel like eating much and was walking like a nut to get rid of the cramps...
... and then my periods were a bit more crampy and longer and heavier for a few months afterwards, which also made me want to walk more and eat less...
Now, maybe some people the cramping makes them want to lay in bed and eat comfort foods... different people deal with things differently... but I lost about 5 lbs within a month of getting it...
