I have to agree with you. I believe everyone who is able to work should be made to work. There is nothing wrong with getting government help after you have been laid off but to become completley dependant on it is ridiculous. Also, all the moochers make it hard for those who really need it to get it because there is not enough money. The sad thing is if we got rid of it now, the poverty in America would become worse than it already is. Some people are just lazy and dont want to work for anything.

I have mixed feelings about this. I feel that if a person is perfectly able to work that they should be made to work. Yet, because a parent is lazy is no reason why a child should go to bed hungry at nights. I feel better having that 56cents a year taken out of my check for a child than some of the other crazy things that the government spends money on. Things like $200,000.00 a year to study the mating habits of houseflies. Roads that are continually torn up but years to fix.
I think the welfare system needs to be revamped. There should be stiff penalties for someone who abuses it. For people who use it for drugs, they should have mandatory prison sentences.
Families that have came from abuse and is fleeing, they should certainly get it. People that have suffered natural disasters like hurricanes and tornados should.
Yet, a mother that waits on welfare to buy her some clothes and her flavor of the month some sneakers should be locked up.

they should have vocational programs and such but many people do need it. The elderly need more, many handicapped people should be getting more in our society of plenty. When they are often victims of our pollutants, chemicals, and industrial accidents and veterans that allow us to enjoy this quality of life. When thier no longer useful, they're pilled 30 on a bus taken to the discount movies on tuesdays.
it may need a more encompassing program but social workers know all of this and they make people get jobs and such. They are lenient with young single women but it's not like they just give people money all the time.
If anything it can be milked but not taken complete advantage of. i.e. prolonging a disability or doing a similar thing with a child. You can't just say i don't have money i need welfare, they'll send you to human reasources.

No I don't think they should stop giving people welfare help. They definitely need to change it though. Help people to get education and transportation, to get a decent job. Shouldn't just hand out money, that doesn't help to change the situation.

You make all good points but it is the SYSTEM that is screwed up. The administrators are unable or incapable of recognizing who deserves it and who does not.
I dont have a solution.

I Agree. They should look more closely as to who receives these services, and i think it should only be temporarily until people get back on they feet.
