I was like that with all of my pregnancies, I think it's just a common craving.

No, ice is water, maybe your just a little dehydrated. Sometimes, I don't realize I even want water until I take a sip, then I can easily down 32 ounces in a sitting because it taste so good. It also maybe a comfort factor for you so your body signals to you that it wants it. I wouldn't worry. If your taking your vitamins and eating right then your body is getting what it needs. Just make sure you keep drinking the water or ice chips however you prefer it. :)

Not ice the drug right? just kidding...
I love ice that has been sitting in a drink for a while, when it gets all soft....yummm, I craved water the whole time I was pregnant and I drank so much that I can't go without it anymore. I have to have water with me at all times.
My husband always gets mad because I will ask him for a drink and eat all of his ice.
I turned into a major ice chewer. Maybe you just need liquids!

your are lacking iron. I did this when I was preg with my twins and at first thought I was just having a new food craving. But when I would go to doctor, he would ask if I had any cravings and I told him ice, so they did some bloodwork and sure enough i was aneimac. So let your dr know or be sure you're taking your prenatals.

I have heard that craving crunching ice is from an iron defeciency...but that could be completely wrong! Or you could be dehydrated and your body is trying to tell you to get more water...or it could be just regular old pregnancy cravings! I crave Coca-Cola (but it has to have ice and a straw).

My husband craves crunching ice...and it drives me crazy!! **Which is by the way, bad for your teeth! The dentist always fusses at him to stop crunching ice!

I would call the doctor and see if he recommends some Iron suppliments.

I would also STRONGLY advise that you discuss with your doctor your water intake. You should be near to 6-8 bottles of water (i.e. water, not just liquids) per day to prevent against possible dehydration. Being dehydrated is one thing that can cause premature labor, so be sure you discuss with your doctor how much water you should be drinking (and then making sure you actually do).

In fact, assign this task to your partner (good training for all the errands they will start to run). Have them set out so many bottles per day and make sure you finish them. Will help get them ready for the day the baby is around and demanding everything all the time. :-)

Usually craving ice is a sign of anemia, lack of iron. I would check with my OB b/c it could just be a normal pregnancy craving, but better safe than sorry.

Ice, like... the drug? Or ice, like ice cubes?

If you crave to crunch on ice cubes, you might need to hydrate more, and possibly you have pica - a desire to eat non-food objects that strikes some women. It's a curious mental disorder and sometimes comes up in pregnancy and dissapears later on. Talk to your obstretrician for advice.

Ice crunching has been associated to a lack of iron. That is with pregnant and non-pregnant women. I had the same thing and the iron count in my blood was so low I was close to needing a blood transfusion. You need to go and request a iron count and get on iron pills if needed. It can be harmful to you and your baby if it goes un-treated.

I'm not sure if it means you are lacking something. I sure hope not, cause i am the same way. I crave it like a drug.
