The sentence loses its power because it is too long. You should break it down to either two or three sentences. For example, In her essay "Equal Share of Miseries," Milena Tomol compares the miseries in her native Russia with the miseries in her new homeland Canada. In Russia, there is a lack of material blessings. In Canada, there is material blessings. Both bring miseries.
