She was accidentally put in with the buck when her 1st litter was 4 days old. I had read that with such a big litter that a pregnancy so soon after would be aborted. Guess not. So, I was wondering if it is ok to wean the 1st litter now at 4 weeks of age. They are eating solid foods and are very good size and healthy. This is my first time w/rabbits. My son got 2 this past Christmas, now we have 19. I just want to make sure this is alright and the mother will be alright.

I would call your vet and ask these questions and make an appointment for Mr. Bunny to be fixed. The vet may also be able to help you find homes for all the baby bunnies.

I had to share a room for a while with an unfixed male rabbit and he spent most evenings trying to have sex with stuffed animal in his cage. It was really horribly noisy as the cage rattled. I believe that he would have been much happier if he didn't have his hormones raging but he wasn't my pet and his owners were too foolish to look after his well being.

how does a doe get accidently placed back with a Buck 4 days after delivering babies? IF you are a responsible pet owner and baby raiser a accidental meeting with a male buck would never happened because she would be in her own cage away from any males at this time, being content with the litter. It sounds like you were wanting another litter and placed her back with the male. In this she is now milking for 2 litters. Its not going to hurt the new litter, its only going to make them weaker and less robust than that first, and the first litters milk quality was compromised because she was pregnant while nursing. One time isnt going to hurt her or the litters but continued doing this will eventually compromise the health and vitality of all the babies and mother. Its bad practice if you are going to be a responsible and caring owner. Dont do it again. Its not recommended and its not needed there are enough pet rabbits in the world. You'll be overrun with back to back breeding practices.

Wow, I guess this really adds meaning to the saying "to multiply like rabbits". I think she is going to be ok as long as you feed her very good quality stuff so she gets what her body needs. Give her lots of varied foods. I had that many rabbits at one point and I know they can really multiply fast. Where are you located? We're looking for another bunny, or maybe a couple. My daughters have 1 and it's just too lonely.
Oh and, I'm pretty sure you can wean the first batch now. They'll be fine. But it sounds to me like you've got a problem on your hands if you don't separate them by sex because they become sexually mature very soon (I believe at 3 months of age) so if you don't watch it, the babies will be having babies pretty soon.
Then again, some people don't mind serving rabbit for dinner. (I used to raise them for food, but I much prefer the taste of the ones from the wild).

You know that saying f*ck like rabbits? Rabbits can get pregnant again just weeks after giving birth to one litter and this also applies to cats, guinea pigs, gerbils, and other rodents. It's important to keep the female and male apart because the minute you get them together they're going to be mating a lot more often than you're ready to deal with.

please be a responsible pet owner and get both your buck and your doe fixed. If you had done this when you got them you would still have 2 rabbits and not 19.
