A friend of mine (a male---they love to tell us women what we're always doing wrong!) said that I shouldn't of had my credit dinged with getting a pre-approval since I won't be buying a house immediately. He also said I need to go to other lenders (banks, I guess?) and shop around because the dude that is with Wells Fargo doesn't even have a Wells Fargo address. Somehow he's affiliated with Wells Fargo though, but I'm not sure how. I guess he's a mortgage broker? I'm confused. Did I just mess up already? I have 6 months to study up on buying a house at least...

NORMALLY~ Now this is just from my experience it is a GREAT thing to do before buying a home. However being it's 6months away it might have been a tad bit over zealous. It's just that the market is changing daily and the rate and program quoted to you today MAY go away tomorrow. It's super volatile right now........depending on if you are subprime or A-paper. And the dude with well's fargo is probably a broker.........and YES shop shop shop however it would be a good idea to find a broker who has access to many banks who will pull your credit ONCE and then shop with 20+ banks. If you need anymore advice from one woman to another (hee hee) just email me. =0) I answer questions for points LOL

no, you should be fine. It's always good to see how you stack up before jumping into a large venture. just don't have alot of credit card inquiries, a few mortgage checks shouldn't hurt you though.
