I mean, he's a really good actor. Probably the best at present.
I don't see what everyone has against him. Titanic? Titanic is a great movie, wether you admit it or not! You may like it or dislike it, but that doesn't make it a bad movie.

No, I don't think he's underrated. He is an okay actor, but I don't think he is the best out there. I saw the movie Titanic and like it very much, but still don't think he is all that.

I wouldn't say that he is the "best actor" there is right now. He is talented, yes. Underrated? No. Every time you turn around someone is raving about him. Oh, and to counter, just because Titanic made a lot of money doesn't make it a good movie, neither does the Academy Awards. I have seen movies that I hated that won Oscars.

I don't think he is underrated, I mean he has had a lot of great roles and he has been recognized for them with Oscar nominations. Also they don't write cr*p in the media about him like they do other actors I think that shows a little more respect. I agree that he is one of the best actors though. I also think that there is more people that like Titanic than people that dislike it.

LD is a really good actor, but he's young and has yet to get a large body of really strong work behind him.

DeNiro can make some real stinkers (like Rocky and Bullwinkle -- uck!), but no one quesitons his greatness. Leo has some good movies (Titanic), some great movies (Gilbert Grape), and some pretty cruddy movies (The Beach(?) I think it was).

As soon as he has a large body of good work, he'll stop being underrated, but he must choose his roles wisely from now on!

How is he underrated? He's been nominated and won numerous awards. He's one of the top paid and in demand actors. He works with top directors on movies with massive budgets. What more do you want? If you're looking for 100% approval that's never going to happen. There will always be people who hate just because one is successful.

He's ok, not bad not great. I liked him in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape".

I did not see Titanic but he was great in Marvin's Room, Gilbert Grape and he was the BEST thing about the Departed. The movie This Boy's Life with Robert DiNero and Leo was fantastic. I agree.

I think he's overrated by teenage girls and underrated by film snobs. He's nothing great, but he is a respectable actor.I wouldn't compare him to Dustin Hoffman, but h can be great in a non-typical role like his older movies,What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Basketball Diaries. He surprised me in The Departed also.

I have to agree with Speedy, I liked Titanic;but having him in it as one of the lead roles didn't make it great. He is a decent actor not terrible but not great either.

I totally agree! I mean if you've ever seen The Basketball Diaries or What's eating Gilbert Grape you would definetily say he is a great actor!

He is extremely underrated...People don't give him the respect he deserves just because he was a "teen heartthrob"...but look at his movies - Basketball Diaries was great, as was Catch Me if You Can, The Departed, The Aviator - really all because of him. As he gets older he gets better
