When I lived in an apartment I had a boy cat. They are easy to take care. Start with a short hair boy kitten that you can train to use a cat litter box. Try to clip their nails so they don't scratch your furniture, have it neuter so they don't mark their territory. Make sure you show it where the cat litter box is. They are easy to take care & you don't have to worry about walking them to go to the restroom. All you have to do is clean the litter box instead of having to clean after a dog when you walk them outside. Important don't forget to feed the cat.

A lot of landlords don't like dogs or cats but don't mind pets like the kind you've mentioned. Birds are a good addition to your family but start with small young birds and have the wings clipped. Clipping the wings will help you to train the bird and prevent it from flying away.

While I prefer big dogs, many apartment complex's only allow small dogs. I suggest going to www.petfinder.org. This is a great site to search for pets in your local shelters. By doing this you will get to see great pics of the dogs, information about them, and know that you are saving a life if you decide to adopt. Good luck!!!

I lived in apartments for 10 years and I've always had a small poodle. Poodles make great pets and don't shed.
