I think your asking what do you usually find in dark comedies?

if that's your question they well... pretty much everything.

Take a great dark comedy Dr. strange love. it has politics, sex, war, nuclear bombs, an insane general, a hopeless English commander, Russian ambassador and a former Nazi scientist with alien arm syndrome.

Racism can be used, but usually its about politics, sex, death, violence, suicide or money.

basically anything can be dark comedy. Office space is about working in an office and that's dark comedy.

Better off dead is (arguably) a dark comedy about a teen who wants to kill himself because he can't find love.

Spanking the monkey... well it involves sex with ones own mom... i could not stomach that idea so My friends told me about it.

if you can attach humor to it then it can be a dark comedy.

obviously things like rape are a little harder to find humor in.

If you want to understand dark comedies I recommend you rent a couple and see how it goes.
