My puppy ate my ten pound note leaving it in tiny little bits on the floor. I took what i had left of it in to the bank and they did change it for me but the cashier did say that they did usually have to post them to the mint to get another one which can take up to 3 weeks.

no that's not true, there are 2 identical serial numbers on a bank note. you can tear a bank note in half but you have to have both halves with corresponding serial numbers on to get a new note (or tape them together).

If you have haltf a note then you have to send it to the bank of england, you cant take it to the bank they wont swap it. You need to have at least 3/4 of the note for them to give you the money.

I've never heard that before. I know if you've got two halves of a ripped note you can do that or even use it normally if you tape it back up, but I would be surprised if you could swap half a note in.
Let me guess, you left it in your jean pocket and you mum washed it, am I right? Typical!

The serial number is on both halves!
On the right it's down the side HMs head , on the left it's under the £10. Probably need both bits though!!
