when using search engine for site details, why do i get directed to another search engine?

when i type something in google i get another search engine, is this spyware or similar?

Not spyware but somehwat simliar.... Some search engines are programmed to catch key words in a search and thus you're directed to them as well.

Also, some commercial search engine companies PAY to have their engine included in searches.
