i think the hyperpolarization channels are the K+ and the Cl- channels, i.e. when the inhibitory AP reaches the post synaptic terminal in the form of neurotransmitters from the pre-synaptic terminal it stimulates the opening of the K+ channels which on entering the terminal cause hyperpolarization by further decreasing the RMP and thus increasing the magnitude of the change in potential required to depolarize the membrane to an EPSP. in other words the slope of the action potential(AP) decreases thus increasing the gap between the next AP. tthe opening of the Cl- channels and the influx of the Cl- again hyperpolarizes the post synaptic terminal as in essence both the above processes are equivalent in terms of the flow of charges.
