Yes, but the level of accuracy in using ultrasound to determine the sex of the baby is around 99% if done at the right time by a trained professional.

It's possible that the doctor is wrong, but it doesn't happen often. How far along are you? If you're 20+ weeks, the "three lines" which indicate a female on ultrasound are pretty clear if the baby is cooperating. That said, I've heard numerous stories of women expecting one sex and giving birth to the other. The only sure way of knowing is amniocentisis or CVS.

Yes, especially if he says that you are having a girl. If he had said that you are having a boy, I would say the chance that he's wrong is very slim. If he says that it's a girl, there's a decent chance that if it is a boy, the penis was hidden during the ultrasound. During the ultrasound, if they show you the "3 white lines" that indicates a vagina, then he's probably right. When you go for your later ultrasounds (around 35 weeks) you'll know for sure!

Yeah the doctor can be wrong, but it depends on what kind of view the got during the ultrasound, if it was a very clear shot, chances are slim he was wrong. But you never know!! Good luck!

Depends on how many weeks you got the sonogram done yet. It is most accurate between 18-22 weeks
Doctors usually only mistake boys or I would say most often boys. They tend to be at a bad angle or cover the area so it makes it hard to be accurate
Do you not want a girl?

most definitely a doctor can be wrong unless you had an amniocentesis done. With that procedure, the results are definite. However, if he told you the sex with only seeing an ultrasound, then it could be wrong

9 out of ten he will be right. Doctors know how to spot things in an ultrasound, assuming you've had one. Little girls are a piece of heaven. Were you hoping for a boy?

Yes, possibly wrong.
Our 18 week ultrasound said, boy .. we then went in for a 3D ultrasound at 24 weeks .. yup! it's a BOY! :)
with girls it can be tricky .. they might have their legs crossed posing as a girl .. but come out as a boy!
little boys tend to have everything on the outside, but its easily hidden if they have their legs crossed or are in a fetal position.
good luck! God bless!

They can never be 100% sure with an ultra sound. If you had an amnio they will always be correct. I have twins. They said I was going to have a boy and a girl, but I had two big boys. Good Luck!

Same thing happened to my aunt. They said that she was having a boy, she had a girl. Then when she got pregnant again they said a girl & she had a boy. Sometimes they are right but they are usually correct.
