Generally between about 5 and 8 months old, with about half able to sit alone at 6 months old.

My son is six months old and is starting to sit up by himself. He still needs alittle support at times.

All babies develop at different rates, so try not to compare to much. Between 6-8 months is the average.

both my boys were sitting by 6 months, unsupported. Some take longer some start sooner
