It would seem not.
Maybe the brightest used to be considered William F. Buckley, Gingrich, Safire, well but Safire is dead, Buckley is very old, and Gingrich is a sharp talker. Gingrich and Buckly both have taken issue with Bush on every aspect of his leadership.

When you say bright, sharp and thoughtful intellectuals, you really can't seriously be talking about the Republican party.
They are bankrupt in this area. They never were represented
in that group, rather that was the domain of the Harvard Democrats who hung with the Kennedys or who now are associated with Obama and Bill Clinton.

The Republican gang as you call them, are showing up as a rather corrupt, secretive, and larcenous bunch of scoundrels.

No purely grew to become into it no longer the fault of Bush however the recent Orleans issues weren't brought about by potential of Katrina rapidly, Katrina grew to become into no longer a head on hit for NO. What brought about the misery grew to become right into a decision made to construct the levee greater fee-effective, and not as solid as needed because of fact it wasn't 'good fee'. Its humorous that when you hint it back it does come all the way down to judgements made, and not the climate. The Governor of Louisiana did no longer do a solid activity, yet he optimistic had no help in any respect from DC.

Just who are these bright, sharp and thoughtful intellectuals that were dumb enough to re-elect Bush? I'd like to know so that if any more of them ever run for a political office, I can make certain I won't be voting for them.
