okay i have a question. i am 37/38 weeks pregnant. i have been having TERRIBLE rib pains since friday. i went to the hospital saturday night. they put me on the fetal monitoring system, and checked my blood pressure, which was pretty normal. BUT when i asked what can i do about the pain in my ribs, the doctor said tylenol pm. well i tried that. it lessened the pain A LITTLE. but only during the night. during the day, regular tylenol doesnt seem to help (both tylenols are extra strength. anyway im having trouble doing a lot of things because of this pain. its more in my right rib. but as i said. the doctor didnt do anything. i was wondering if it could be my liver/kidney or something and i just THINK its my rib. if its my rib somone said it could be cracked or bruised, i doubt its broken because if it was, iwould be in tears all the time i bet. anyway does ANYONE know what i should do about this? should i call my ob/gyn and ask or does anyone know if i have to deal with this til birth.

Honey, I would defiantly call your own OB, I'm sure he wants to hear from you since you have been to the emergency room and are still experiencing pain. Please give him a call right away, OK? I'm praying for you and your new one.♥♥♥

I have heard of many woman getting this pain, I do too. sometimes it hurts so high up I can't stand to wear a bra.
My doc said this is caused by the fact that the uterus has actually grown so much that at this point it is actually under your ribs, putting constant pressure on them. Some people say their babies jam their foots there, but mine has not done that yet so I don't know what that feels like.
I know it is not very reassuring, but you are normal, and just have to tough it out. I can barely walk anymore at 38 weeks and there is nothing anyone can do for me. It sucks, but its all worth it in the end, right.?

I am a mother of 4 children. First is this youir first child? If it is you don't know quite what to expect. I had pain in my ribs with all my children. Mainly at the end of my pregnancy. The baby is getting so large and their feet are up in your ribs. I thought that I was going to be bruised all over. Yes you are going to have to deal with this until the baby is born and it is going to be uncomfortable. The last weeks of your pregnancy are always like that. I hope that you found my answer useful. Good luck....

suprizing this is normal. Your baby doesn't have room there for you suffer for it. You are at 38 weeks which means your dr might have done an exam and stripped your menbranes also WALK WALK WALK you can go into labor by walking. Take some with you and don't stop until your contractions are right on top of each other. If you want the baby out play with your nipples for an hrs or two until your contractions are steddy. Also call your Dr. I've been pregnant twice and our dr suggested SEX and playing with my nipples to induce labor. You are safe to have your baby now. Good luck!

take castor oil
2-4 table spoons every couple hours till you either go into labor or have diherea
(weird old wives tale that worked wonders for me in week 39)

you are far enough along to go ahead and pop completly safe and castor oil will help with that

the rib pain is probably just that
your ribs are being stretched and moved and kicked and pushed and all that fun stuff

also walk as much as you can handle it

I agree with the previous person, I went into L&D last night thinking that I was in labor and it ended up being a gall bladder attack.

On the right side? Did they check your gallbladder? Pain from gallstones can often be felt right underneath the ribs on the right side.
