Spray the inside with Lysol (the aresol kind) and leave the door open for several hours so it can air out. My kids burnt popcorn recently, and it stunk, so I can feel for your situation. This is what I did and the smell was eventually gone.

Wash it out with Apple Cider vinegar. If odor still remains place a microwavable dish in it with vinegar inside. Vinegar will pull odors from a room so why would it not help resolve this problem. Leave set over night.Beats the chemical cleansers use that can burn the skin. Vinegar good for that too.
If still not gone heat the vinegar till hot like coffee water then let set overnight.

Use a mixture of water and baking soda to scrub the inside and leave a bowl of the same inside the microwave for the better part of a day.

If that's not speedy enough for you, then use a cleanser that contains orange oil on the oven and treat any remaining odors in the house with the air freshener, spray or incense of your choice.

put cup of water with vinegar in for about a minute to boil & steam let sit another minute then wash the microwave with vinegar water solution. let air dry with door open. try repeating this and leaving door open when you can ie when not home to let air circulate to remove the odor

don't let water sit to long to steam i wrecked a microwave by doing this as the steam affected the wiring.
also try leaving a bowl or box of baking soda to absorb the smell when not in use?!

The smell will take awhile to go away no matter what you use. I know, it smells really bad. Clean it out with a good disindfectant/deoderizer about once a day for a week and that should help.

Use any cleaner like fantastic to get the smell out.
Next time, lower the time that you pop the popcorn.
I have done the same thing, many times.

From now on remember- It is better to have 3/4 bag of unburnt popcorn, that to have a full bag of burnt popcorn.
