Okay I have a DVD for you to get to understand this better. I just ordered it for my fiance to see. Your baby can hear you but other voices are muffled. So if you'd like to know what your baby is doing or hears or what you are going though. Go to www.amazon.com and look up "In the Womb" it's a wonderful DVD or VHS for anyone to watch. I love it. It explains so much and shows you on a 4 D sonogram what is going on. Your baby can see a bright light from sun shine. it's totally cool to understand pregnancy. It's also weird to know that so much is unknown. Smile and also check out www.pregnancyweekly.com and www.babyzone.com. Hope this helps.

My fiance and I do the same thing. There have been studies that show that when a mother rubs her tummy, the baby will sometimes lean against the wall of that area as if to be comforted. You should watch the special they had on National Geographics, called "In the Womb." It was about multiples and it showed just how they are in utero. Amazing! You can also buy the dvd at amazon.com. Good luck and I wish you the best!

Nobody knows for sure what fetuses think or feel, but they can feel pain, so he can most certainly feel discomfort, as well as comfort and even some pleasure - the soft hum of your internal organs and the warmth of the fluid are all probably very comforting and pleasant, for instance, and very loud sounds and hot water pouring from the shower on your belly and other disturbances are probably UNcomfortable.

PAST BIRTH?

Love isn't felt by children for a while; a sort of devoted attachment keeps infants and babies close to mothers, but love takes a little bit of time since it's a very mature feeling and babies don't really feel like their parents HAVE feelings, they are too self-centered and egocentric. Read:
" Your Baby and Child" by Penelope Leach
She is perfect at explaining love and how it forms in children, and how their emotional development occurs.

Yes, I would like to think so. As a mother for the first time, as find out your pregnant and all the preperations that you make for this life you are carring inside you right under your heart you do everything you can to protect, nuture, and love with a love that only a mother can know. You talking to him lets him know that you care enough to talk to him cause he can hear you voice, and he will reconize your voice. As the first thing he heard, cause you cared enough to talk to him. When you first hold that baby in your arms you feel this overwhelming sensation over you that you will do anything to protect this child and love this child for all time. But yet it is scary because now your heart is outside of your body.
Congrats on the baby on I hope all goes well for you and your family!!!

It's a nice concept, but to be honest, an unborn baby isn't aware of the meaning of love, so I don't think they can feel that. I do know that emotions of the mother is put on the baby (hence why they say that you shouldn't get stressed out and what not), but I think that's more of a physical thing as apposed to an emotional feeline. I may be wrong, but that's just what I would think. Also, as the pregnancy progresses, the fetus can recognize voices, so they due tend to respond to familier sounds.

I believe that babies are very aware of their surrondings and emotions that take place outside of the womb. They can distinguish between voices and moods. If I was upset, all 3 of my kids would move around more, like they knew something was the matter.
All 3 also moved around and followed my hand when I would play with my stomach. They can feel love.

I am convinced they do! When my mom rubs my belly and talks to her the baby goes all crazy and starts moving around. I talk to her as well, my hubby does too but he's a guy and doesn't do it for long! :o( I think women tend to be a little more sentimental. I think they definitely pick up our emotions, I find it that when I cry she doesn't move, then I regret crying because I think I scare her and make her sad. Good luck!

I sure hope so and I think so. We hug and kiss and talk to our little girl all the time. If anything they probably feel secure and comfortable and those are two components of love, right?
I just can' wait to hold her and tell her.
38 weeks pregnant here myself, good luck with the baby.

I believe love transcends all boundaries and limits. Your baby is fortunate to have two loving parents who talk to him. Play music and/or sing to him, too. It is well-known that babies who are sung to and/or had music played while in the womb are born with an "ear" for music. The intrinsic value of music to a child is immeasurable. It is both soothing and pleasurable. Kudos to you both.
