Ronald is a man. The original Ronald got too old to keep doing the clown work and another guy took over. I met the other guy when I worked at McDonalds (worked there 2 years). He was making his rounds to McDonalds all over the US I guess. I talked to him for about 10 minutes when I was on break one day at work when he came by. He was really nice. He's also the one that does all the commercials now. Yes he's kinda short, but he's a man.

At any given time, there are dozens, or possibly hundreds, of actors retained by McDonald's to appear as Ronald McDonald in restaurants and events. It is assumed, however, that the company uses only one actor at a time to play the character in national television commercials. Following is a list of such primary Ronald actors.

Willard Scott (Washington, D.C. 1963–1966) AKA Bozo the Clown and the weatherman on the today show.
Bob Brandon (1966 + )
King Moody (1970s)
Geoffrey Giuliano (late 1970s – early 1980s)
Squire Fridell (1984 to 1991)
Jack Doepke (early 1990's)
Joe Maggard (mid-1990s)

George Voorhees, a professional clown, supposedly first portrayed the character for a hired performance in LA and was Gay.

Ronald is effeminate, I can't argue that. But I don't think that makes Ronald a woman. Ronald has been around long before gays/lesbians were mainstream. I doubt Ray O Kroc had a future scandal in mind. Ronald is a man, albeit a very creepy one at that.

Well, he's a fictional character. So if it were meant to be a woman, they'd have given it a woman's name. Perhaps some of the people who are "Ronald live" or whatever have been women. But that's just because they were desperate for an acting gig, I'm sure.

Not me, I used to be a manager at McDonald's. I have seen Ronald out of his costume and make up.
