What's the difference between the two pagents? I'm sure they must have different things they're looking for in contestants, so I'm wondering what that would be. What kind of criteria do you need to have to qualify to enter one of the pagents? Which one is more prestigeous in your opinion? Any information would be greatly appreciated. No, I'm not looking to enter a beauty contest, just wondering out of curiosity.

Miss USA is strictly a beauty contest.

Miss America on the other hand, is talent, appearance, beauty, & brains. A schlarship is part of the prize. I think Miss America is more prestigeous. First you need to win in your state to be eligible to enter Miss America pageant.

Miss America requires a talent while Miss USA does not. That does not mean that Miss USA contestants are not talented, it is just not part of the requirements. Miss America is based more upon scholarship, service, and talent in addition to poise/beauty. I personally find that Miss America contestants are more "girl next door" pretty while Miss USA contestants are more "supermodel" beautiful. Miss USA is a preliminary to Miss Universe (these contestants are amazingly beautiful).

I think Miss America is seen as more prestigious because it requires so much more than just looks. With that said, I really dislike beauty pageants because of their superficial competitiveness. The judges selected at the local and state level are often not qualified and the amount of glue, tape, and Vaseline that goes into one of those competitions is just plain scary. Furthermore, you have girls who make a career out of entering every local beauty pageant in the state just to get a chance at the state and national level. Miss Potato Spud one year will become Miss Turnip Festival the next year and the "newbie" contestants don't stand much of a chance against these expert contestants. It's really quite an expensive, ridiculous industry. But then again, if it makes one girl's dream come true, so be it.

I personally prefer the Miss America System. I compete in pageants, and I have won many scholarships, as well as gained a lot of confidence in myself. I do agree with the answer before mine somewhat, in what they said with the "Miss Potato spud" becoming "miss Turnip.." the year after...because it does happen...a lot. I, unfortunately, have competed against a lot of them...and it puts some of us at a disadvantage because of the fact that when you hold a title, you are working a lot for your platform, and building it...which makes you look even better at your next pageant.

However, I do disagree about the glue and tape being scary. To be honest, we really don't use that much! We use a little bit of a spray glue to keep our swimsuits from Riding up while we walk onstage...cause lets face it, that could be embarassing! And the tape, well, we use some for our chests...but it really isn't as much as they make it seem!

they are the two nonsense, yet from what i know, the pass over usa competition brags approximately how a lot scholarship funds it supplies to ladies and seems to objective to distance itself from being a "elegance competition." (massive mistake, for my area. they are actually not fooling every physique.) pass over united states of america is an element of the pass over Universe opposition, and that's greater concerning the classic elegance competition stuff. they provide autos and fur coats and issues fairly than scholarships, a minimum of on the pass over Universe point. i'm no expert, and that i haven't watched the two in years, yet it is the way it used to function, besides.

I think they should all compete in a wrestling ring filled with mud. Or jello. Either is fine.
