I have talked about this to my friend today but her response was rather defensive...

She is a single mother of two, doesn't work. She's good at saving money but what she does with it is what's worrying me. She shops... there's nothing wrong with shopping, the problem is that she shops to replace something she recently bought... for example she's wall papered her bedroom last month and is already thinking of changing it. Would this be considered normal behaviour?

She may be a compulsive shopper...either that or, she just likes to update her wallpaper every so often.

If she's happy and is taking good care of her own, why let it bother you? You said yourself that she is good at saving money...perhaps she's a bargain hunter.

It sounds like obsessive compulsive behavior to me. My grandmother has it, and she is constantly rearranging her furniture.
