Best known as the 'Brawl in Hockeytown', tensions hit the boiling point as Darren McCarty seeked retribution against Claude Lemieux for his blindside hit on Kris Draper in the playoffs the previous season. Fights broke out all over the ice during the game, highlighted by Mike Vernon's bloodying of Patrick Roy. Nearly lost among the frackus was the outcome of the game, which featured a furious comeback by the Red Wings and a game-winning overtime goal off the stick of McCarty. The game helped catapult Detroit to the 1997 Stanley Cup title and a Red Wing dynasty.

well ten years ago today March 26, that McCarty, playing for the Red Wings, beat the crap out of Claude Lemieux, he played for Colorado. Vernon, Red Wings, beat the crap out of Roy, Colorado. Shannahan took a flying leap at Roy before taking out Foote, and fought him. This was all because of what Lemieux did to Draper. I don't remember the score but the wings won in overtime, McCarty scored the winner. If you type Claude Lemieux in your web browser you can probably see the video........
