I have not slept in the past 3 weeks. I sleep maybe a hr a night . I am so tired and warn out. I know losing sleep is a side effect from being pregnant.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I might be able to fall a sleep at night?

I am 35 weeks and I have not slept for 3 weeks, this past few days I have tried new ways of sleeping for comfort. I prop pillows up and start out sleeping somewhat in a sitting position and I find that it is good for my back and my heartburn, plus I can breath better. Usually some time during the night, I will shift from side to side and I find I can sleep a little better. Also, always prop up you feet with 1 or 2 pillows depending how thick they are. It helps with circulation and swollen feet and ankles, plus it feels real good and it's relaxing.

Try a warm bath of lavender and ecualptus. You might add eptsom salt or sea salts. I'm 20 weeks and I hardly sleep. Also you might try not drink anything an hrs before bed. Your body is getting you ready for labor. You have at least 5 more weeks of this. If you are napping during the day cut that out of your day. Also you might try reading a book or some thing that relaxes you. Try a glass of milk an hrs before bed. And if you are still restless try to take an evening walk like around 6-7 o'clock take some with you it's importent at this stage to rest. Also try cleaning your house untill you are exhasted. Hope this helps. :)

I am 32 weeks and do the exact same thing. Plus I have a 19mo old who keeps me running around and picking him up all day. I usually just lay down at 9 after I put him down then if I cant sleep, go watch tv until I get sleepy. Even if it means sleeping on the couch for a few hours here and there. My husband is totally used to me getting up at 1 in the morning to go watch tv. Sometimes I'm lucky and get a whole 4 hours of sleep. I got 9 hours the other nite.Boy was that wonderful! But that was also on the weekend where my hubby could get up with our toddler. You also might try chamomille tea. Its all natural tea that will relax you. It was recommended by my OB. Hope this helps!

it isnt a side effect, the lack of sleep can put alot of stress on your baby so i would be staying in bed all day trying to get some. its probably your position. maybe invest in a pregnancy pillow, i got one and it was a blessing. just keep moving around till you find a comfortable position, if that doesnt work talk to your doctor, maybe she can prescribe a sleep aide that would be safe for your baby. good luck!

Do you have a pillow that you can prop your belly with? I am 35 weeks and have had trouble sleeping as well. I prop my belly up and sleep so much better. Maybe you could try that.

-No caffeine at all.
-A routine
- No more than a few minutes of reading/tv while actually IN bed
-As you lay in bed, make up complex stories or scenarios to give your brain something to think about. If you won a million dollars, decide how you'd spend each penny. . . its like counting sheep only better.
- if all else fails, try frequent naps.
