I hope you have heard of Digg/Reddit. I am planning to start a website that will contain many Indian celebrity fansites. There are probably too many out there already, but I guess my USP would be that it will be user-generated. Anyone can create a fansite, add pictures, videos, news and edit content. Users can vote on articles and other items and promote them to the front page. I currently own a small time celebrity fansite and earn about $30 a month through Adsense. What do you think of this idea? Will this catch on? Any suggestions/comments?

thats a good idea. first visit all the websites and see what new can u give the viewers which other sites doesnot offer.might the best of the user posting(videos,phots,etc) every month will be rewarded. do offer some really cool stuff with the web site name inscribed on that initially. once traffic increase, u can decide further developments. hope u can give a thought.

But you would need to keep keen watch on the pictures being posted on that site. Some people may post obscene snaps of celebrities or loads of porns stuff. It may create a bad taste for real fans.

I think is a good idea.
You just need to offer your visitors something new, something that the other website competitors doesn't offer. Be unique, be original - and you'll have big chances to make them come back and fast increasing the number of visitors.
