Experince specific to the job the company is hiring for.
If all things are equal, personality and fit come into play and are important.
I was once asked why they should hire me over another, and I said given I don't know the qualifications of the others, all I can offer are my skills, experience and ability to work hard. I got the job!
Hope that helps

Employers/interviewers consider a myriad of things.
1. Reliability (have they had 5 jobs in 2 years or have they been at one job for 15 years); so your work record, as well as absences (at work and in school) will figure into the mix, so will being on time.
2. Experience (but usually only if the job is requesting a specific talent);
3. Confidence (how do you present yourself - and not just how you dress - to people, there must be a fine balance between confident and egotistical
4. Sometimes knowledge of the company (always good to go to an interview with knowledge about the place to which you are applying
5. Finally, believe it or not, proper use of the English language (both written and oral)

Intestinal fortitude, and desire! When someone has the "guts" to do a job with all that is in them and is very passionate about the job that they do they are normally the best worker. The only problem that does occur however is that oft time these people get burned out due to the lack of "fire" in the other people in the job. I hope that answers your question.

I have not actually tried it but I hear after you complete an interview process you can send a personalized thank you note to your interviewer or a follow up email thanking them for thier time.

Its worth a try I suppose.

Could be loads of things. Picking the nose during interview is fairly different and effective.

Education, experience, and race. Even though they all say EEO, that is some bulls__t.
