My eye make-up is only amazing for the first hour after I applied it. After that it goes downhill. It starts to smudge under my eyes, particularly my eyeliner, and mascara. I start looking like a scary zombie. It never fails. I never rub my eyes or go out in the rain because I'm always conscious about this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? My makeup bag consists of 99% MAC products so if anyone can suggest to me what product I should get, that would be so helpful!

It really helps to use a waterproof mascara and to apply powder under your eyes. Liquid eyeliner seems to stay in place better than pencil. I have the same problem, but this seems to help.

If it's still a problem, just touch up your makeup periodically.

The first thing you want to do is apply concealer and powder to your eyelid and under your eyes. You could also use a foundation primer. This creates a base that the makeup will adhere to and it will be less likely to smudge. Then you will want to use products that are waterproof and smudgeproof. I swam in high school and I never had a problem with my eye makeup running because I used quality products. MAC makes great makeup, but it might be too moisturizing. Go for waterproof stick liners or liquid. Definitely get a good quality waterproof mascara. It is so worth it. Spend the money on it, and go cheap everywhere else if you have to. I personally think that any of the Lancome waterproofs or Stila sport mascaras are the way to go. They are tried and true. Unless you have light or blond eyelashes, there is no need to put mascara on your bottom lashes. It will only look unnatural and smudge. If you REALLY must do something, try using a clear mascara (or albolene if you are tight on cash). It will draw attention to your bottom lashes, but won't show if it smudges. Curl your lashes before you apply mascara and it will stay better. Good luck!

wow, I had that SAME exact problem before I started using Clinique products. No matter what brand of eyeliner I bought, it would always smudge just hours after I put it on.

I would recommend trying Clinque's brush on creme liner. It's waterproof and it won't even fade during the day. I'm always amazed at how I look like I have just applied it before I take it off for bed. As for a mascara, I would try any of Clinique's, but I like the 'High Impact' one best for volume.

good luck =]

Hi

If you might want to try waterproof mascara and waterproof eyeliner as these will not smudge at all... they are even fine in the rain. I wear mine swimming and in the sauna/steam rooms and even then it stays put!

The stay on mascara I have is by revlon and its amazing!

The eyeliner I use is by almay and is called 'amazing lasting' - however lots of make up brands do waterproof mascara and eyeliner. So just go and have a look at what they sell at your local store.

use a better eyeliner, even mac pencil will smudge, thats the point, its supposed to look soft. any good quality liquid will do.

for mascara, get waterproof and dont put on too much.

you dont need 2 put mascara or a lot of eyeliner on the bottom, this looks odd and always smudges, i just get a good quality BIG eyeliner pencil (you know the big blunt crayon type?) and rub once and gently on the outer half of the bottom eyelid, on the lash line, this wont leave a noticable line, but it will make it look a bit darker and pick out the lashes.
