i researched soy milk and it states it isn't good for babies. because of that reason and cancer results from lab rats. my baby was prescribed that today after seeing blood in his stool last night and with him being gassy.

You're kidding, right?? Hopefully so. My daughter was on soy milk because of food allergies. Soy milk is an alternative to cow's milk. You need to do a lot more research.

Well...I read that article....here's what I think. #1, there is always some new study about this or that will cause cancer or heart disease or whatever....Products are being placed out on the market too quickly without enough research. The general public just jumps on this stuff like crazy....like the research that said deodorant can cause breast cancer, or standing too close to a microwave can cause cancer, or cell phone usage diminishes the sperm count.....there is always something new. There will always be something else to come.
#2, homosexuality is not something that is "taught or caught". It is not a disease or a syndrome. It is something you are born with...it is WHO you are...not WHAT you are. There are many many VERY masculine men out there who are gay.
#3, I am the mother of a little boy who is now 10 years old. He was breastfed mostly but started supplimenting formula when he was about 4 months old. I chose soy because he too was gassy and well...cow's milk is for baby cows! Anyway...he is 100% boy! He is very active, incredibly masculine and has a very lean and strong body and great teeth. He also is quite the flirt when it comes to the ladies! Soy did just fine for him.
Besides, maybe the estrogen in the soy helped him to become a sweet and caring young man! If he did come out as an adult and say that he was gay, I couldn't care less...some of my best guy friends are gay! As long as he is happy!

Okay I kind of skimmed the article, I still think that it's the most outrageous thing I've heard in a long time. My son is 6 now and was on soy formula for almost a full year. I don't see him turning out gay. He is a boy's boy. Likes to get dirty, play with cars and trucks, great at sports. Anyways, to those of you who are going to say that it doesn't matter what he likes to play with, he could still end up being gay, I know that! We have to ask ourselves, do you want to deal with an unhappy baby with bloody stools or the slim highly unprobable chance that your child will be gay. I know for sure that I will love my son whether he's gay or straight. I just want him to be happy.

Wow, don't mean to be offensive...but how in the world do you see a correlation between ingesting soy milk and being gay? Can't see a cause and effect from any aspect - environmental, genetic, etc.

However, if the precautionary warning says not to give to babys....hmm, I think I'd discontinue use. All other related questions I'd direct to my pediatrician or a nutritionist.

Just some thoughts! Oh, and I am not gay -- but am an a health care professional.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard today.

We've recently switched our daughter to soy formula because she has exzema and we're trying to figure out if milk based formula is a trigger for it (which appears to be the case because her skin is getting a lot better on the soy formula).

Remember, not everything you find on the internet is true.

I don't believe it will turn a child gay... my husband was on soy and hes DEFINATLY not gay.

But, there is some controversy surrounding soy.

It is estimated that a child fed exclusivly soy formula gets about 5 birth control pills worth of estrogen a day. This is, of course, plant estrogen. But nonetheless... its something to think about.

I have also heard that girls given soy formula can start showing signs of puberty early... developing breasts as early as 5 and armpit hair and whatnot.
For boys, i have heard that it can effect thier impulse control and they can be overly aggressive. This i can atest to myself, because as i said... my husband was on soy. He has HORRIBLE impulse control (we like to call him spontanious!) and he is a very aggressive person. These are actually his main faults, it is so bad with him. I love him anyway... but what can you do?

I suggest you do more research on this before switching... have you consitered relactating? That is always an option.

Where did you hear that craziness? My daughter also had blood in her stools from formula. Soy did not help her though. She ended up being on Pregestimil made by Enfamil. It can be hard to find though. If you have a problem with using soy, you can also try either Alimentum or Nutrimagin.

Hmmm, never heard those. If you are scared of those reasons you can use a different formula like Alimentum or Nutramigen.
They are not milk protein and are easily digested. They are extremely expensive, about double the cost of soy.

OH please tell me you don't actually believe you can TURN a boy gay??? Or that soy milk causes cancer....WHat happened to good old fashioned horse sense?? Did we lose that when the government stepped in and the churches started raising the children of the world??? You need to read more than one persons opinion about soy milk. AND you need to know you can't TURN gay.
