To be honest, the modeling industry looks for women with a certain "look," and if you don't have it then you can be the most attractive woman in the world and you won't make it in that business. Back in the sixties it was the "look" of Cheryl Tiegs (the California blonde, surfer girl look). Then came Shelly Hack and Lauren Hutton and thier ilk in the seventies. Then, the late Gia Carangi, and CIndy Crawford and their ilk in the eighties and early nineties. And so on. It's a VERY, VERY difficult business, too. It's full of disappointment, heartache, starvation, living in virtual poverty before you make it (if you ever do), and a lot of hard, hard work. You need to have a professional portfolio of photographs and begin making the rounds of modeling agencies, along with the thousands of other women who are doing the same thing. You would be far better getting an education (I know that is NOT what you wanted to hear) and finding an interesting and rewarding career. Remember too that the career life of most models is very short because when their youth and figure are gone, so is their career. Some have continued on in the field when older, but most fade. Get your education.

The modelling industry if a Very difficult one..... Height and measurements are the most important thing....... Minimum 5'8" (180cm) with a approx measurements 34-24-34 or about there........If you fit these descriptions then try taking a bit of formal training (just don't get conned into spending a lot of money) you only need the basics of walking..... If a modelling agency feels you have potential they will train you for FREE.
After all if you make money so do they.....As for Extras work, opportunity is probably one of the most important things..... Is there a lot of filming in the area you live in IE: Vancouver or Toronto Canada???? If there is a lot of filming check with the film board in your area..... they can let you know who is filming and when.... You may need to join some type of agency (Some charge a start up fee of 25-50 dollars) then call, call, call that agent..... let them know when you are available and keep calling until they get you some work...... When I did Extras work I would call my agent at least 2 times a week asking if anything was available........ Persistence is the Key!!!

1. You do not need professional photos! (Just get a friend to take pictures of you, make sure your wearing little to no make up)
2. Many agencies do look for a height of 5'8 or higher but if your shorter you could still be good for catalog modeling.
3. If you want to be a model you have to be able to take rejection. Agencies are looking for a certain look and personality. If you don't have it for one agency you might have it for another.
4. Go to www.modelresource.ca to find agencies in your area.
5. Many agencies have both acting & Modeling, so make sure they know that your interested in both.
6. When going to an agency for an interview or Open Call your supposed to wear little to no make up.
7. You should not have to pay an agency any money.
Good Luck
