My 9 month old daughter woke up at 2 a.m. this morning vomiting her formula. She didn't want to eat last night I thought it might just be because of teething. I gave her pedilite (sorry about the spelling) starting at 2:30 a.m. till now. The last time she vomited was at 8:00 a.m. was her 5 th time. Now is has direrra and a fever at 8:00 it was 101.7 , at 11:00 it was 102.3 and now it's 103.5 . I gave her tylonol at 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The last time I took her temp was 50 min. after I gave her the tylonol. I called her doctor twice (kasier) and first they said keep her hydrated and now they told me that the fever is killing the germs and to put her in a luke warm bath which I did. They will not give me an appt. to see her doctor. I hae finnally put her down for a nap. What could I do to make her feel better, I can't stand to see my daughter sick.

Hi there! I just went through the same thing with my 7 month old son. I was giving him tylenol but then I read if that didn't work to try Ibuprofen. So I went and bought Childrens Motrin. Within 30 minutes his fever went from 102.7 down to 98.7. That made him feel much better, he still has a stuffy nose but atleast he has a smile on his face.

If that doesn't work and her fever keeps rising take her to the hospital right away. My 4 year old had a seizure because of his fever. I am almost positive the Motrin will do the trick though. Good Luck

First off it's her first real illness I take it. As long as she's drinking, has wet diapers, and tears she's fine. You just have to work through it. The luke warm bath is good - and gently just taking a cool rag to her head.

I guess Motrin is out? Can you give her this - it helps with aches if your ped allows this do this and every 4 hours the tylenol.

Sadly when a baby is sick mom is everything to her.

You will never forget this time and just know it's one of many to come.

Napping is good a fever is her bodys way of fighting off this virus. If she isn't crying tears, or not drinking that is when they want to see you!!

Do not go to the ER unless she has 0 wet diapers, or no tears or refuses to drink. Otherwise you are doing everything right. Just relax and it will be ok!

Your doctor can't do anything for her if she's drinking on her own. So why take her in if you can get fluids in her.
A fever always runs hotter as the day goes on.
Get motrin and give her this. Then at the 4 hour mark give tylenol. If she can't tolerate anything by mouth this is when you need to head to the ER. As long as she has tears, a wet diaper and tries to drink she's ok. Keep an eye on all input/output.

If you are still concerned, take your baby to a walk in clinic, or the ER. You could also try giving Ibuprofen. That is in Motrin, and Advil. You can alternate that and Tylenol, but if that isn't effective you need to see a doctor. Her temp is continuing to increase, so you need to continue to monitor her. Keep pushing fluids. Things to look for that indicate dehydration are: sunken eyes, sunken fontanel, crying without any tears, cracked lips, listlessness, no wet diapers. (If you are unsure if your baby is peeing, but a piece of toilet paper inside the baby's diaper. If they really aren't peeing, this is the best way to know. Diapers are so absorbent now that it can be hard to tell that a baby is not urinating, but this is very important to know. Good luck. Hope your little one feels better soon.

Firstly, I would find another doctor, that is garbage that you can't get an appointment. Any good doctor's office who cares for babies should have an emergency line or emergency help. Secondly, if she's running a fever, lightly wash her body with cool, damp terry cloths or soft wash cloths. Also, for a lot of babies and newborns, singing helps. Something about hearing a monther's voice in a somber tone helps relax a babies' mind. Those are just two things my family has always done for a sick child. Hope it helps!

It sounds to me like you are doing everything that you are supposed to be doing. I would wait and see how she is after she gets up from her nap. If she seems the same or worse take her to ER or urgent care in your area - and it might be better to not give her any more medication so the doctors can see her symptoms (the medication will mask it)

If she seems to be doing better after her nap and can keep fluids down then just keep doing what you are doing and give the tylenol when it says you can.

Good luck and I hope she's feeling better!

You are doing everything you can at home. Cuddle her as much as she wants, that will make her feel a little better with you right there with her. I can't believe your Dr won't see her with her fever that high. If it stays that high I would go to the ER or Urgent Care to see if there is an infection that can be treated. A high fever should never be shrugged off like your Doc did.

If they tylenol is not controlling her fever, then she needs to be seen by a doctor.

Try her on the BRAT diet if you can get her to eat (bananas, rice {cereal} applesauce, toast). Keep up on the pedialyte, and avoid the formula for now. You can also try clear juices.

You need to monitor her diapers to make sure she is still wetting them, if she isn't that is a major sign of dehydration. Its good that she's sleeping, that will help her body fight the infection.

Juice, water, Powerade, lukewarm baths several times, cool cloths on the head...Tylenol and motrin alternate..one time tylenol next 4 hour dosage give her motrin. Try to let her suck on a popsicle, or have some jello. Yes she can suck on the jello after you break it up in real small pieces. For diarreha you can go to the pharmacy and they have a medication for it. If she is teething, Baby Orajel will help with any discomfort. Just keep pushing the fluids. Let her sleep when she wants. Mom to 3.

Try to call another doctor. Sometimes a doctor don't really care about their patient and we can't keep rely on them. While waiting, hope this tips helps

• Rest is important, ensure your baby gets as much of it as possible.

• Plenty of liquids are needed, especially if a fever is also present.

• If the baby is stuffed up elevate her head by putting a pillow or two under the crib mattress at one end.

• Keep your baby comfortable by wiping his runny nose – this will help him breathe easier.

• Lots of love, affection and patience are required at this point.

Just from experience of working with a pediatrician it sounds like you are doing the right thing. However being a mother of a 7 month old i myself would not take any chances and if my childs dr. refused to make an appointment i would take her to the e.r. or you can also take her to an after hours clinic. Hope she feels better!
