I'm 24 1/2 weeks pregnant and i was wondeing how often my baby should be moving. I'm probably going to go to the hospital as soon as I get off work in 4 hrs but I'm trying to make sure i'm not overreacting.

I didn't really start to notice the lack of movement until about 8 last night. I went home and drank a 10 oz glass of koolaid. he/she only moved 2 times. An hour and a half later, i took a few sips of energy drink. Still, only three small movements.
I went to the hospital on thursday and they treated me in the e room for siatica (nerve pain) but the o.b. nurse thought that they may have given me the wrong meds for pain.
I had already noticed that the baby was becoming more active in the evening.
I only took the dose of meds they gave me there. I didn't fill the prescription. but I'm worried about what the Vicodin may h;ave done.

If you're are worried you should go to set yourself at ease. But after awhile the room gets cramped in there and baby can't move like he/she used to. God bless!

First, calm down, take a deep breath, and drink some water. Then call your doctor or call Labor and Delivery at the hospital and tell them what's going on. They are the best people to advise you.

Keep in mind that the baby is more likely to move when you yourself are inactive, as in lying down resting or asleep at night. When you are up and moving around, they tend to fall asleep from the rocking motion.

If you are worried, lie down for an hour, drink lots of water, and count how many times you feel the baby kick in an hour. If it's less than ten times, call the hospital and ask the L&D nurses for advice. Also, at 24 weeks, your baby is much smaller than a baby at 36 weeks, and it may be that your baby is making movements that you can't feel.

You're doing okay, just try to relax. And if you don't already have it, get a copy of "What to Expect When You're Expecting." There are updated editions in stores, and you will find answers to questions just like this.

Lay down somewhere and drink a pepsi, if you don't feel 10 movements within an hour go to the hospital.

My doctor told me I should feel at least ten movement a day. If I felt like the baby was not moving enough try the above suggested. With the caffeine and sugar it should wake the baby up, if it doesn't work call in or go to the hospital because then something might be wrong. The pepsi always worked. Babies have sleepy days and active days.

I am 34 weeks with baby #6, and when I was around week 24 also felt the baby more on some days than others. Have trust in GOD and do not worry. Go have a 3D elective ultrasound, that will make you feel much better. Another good idea is rent a heartbeat Doppler. Search on-line for a rental company. I did and it is very reassuring.

Make sure you eat something now and see how many times the baby moves in an hour. You should have this information when you go to see the doctor. The doctor will ask you that as soon as you get there. But don't wait until 4 tell your boss and go.

Good Luck and let us know.

My baby is 25 weeks and has mellowed out a lot.
they say dont start timing your babys movements until around 28 weeks .. because before that, they are not steady.
my baby used to be a day-time player .. now he sleeps all day and when I wake up in the middle of the night .. I can feel him kicking.
Its normal for your baby do sleep days and play nights .. its because you being awake and active puts them to sleep .. and they get their energy while you are asleep.
If you are worried .. try having some orange juice .. that always gets my little guy moving.
Also, lay on your side .. then you can feel it more.
Your baby is also getting bigger .. and doesnt have as much space to play!
My baby's movements slowed way down .. we went in for a 3D ultrasound last thurs. and he was very active .. I just couldnt feel it because of how he was laying .. he was facing my back.

congrats! good luck! God bless!

When your at home you should count how many times the baby moves or kicks. now if the number goes lower then the first time you counted, then maybe you should see your doctor, but if the number is higher the baby is okay and being very active.
Good Luck with your baby.

Oh my gosh...this sounds just like me last week. I'm 25 weeks as of tomorrow and last week he was so still and he barely moved. I was getting so upset I called my doctor. They had me come in quick to check on the baby and of course, he was fine. The reason I couldn't feel him was because he had turned himself around and was facing my back. Which is very hard to feel. Once they turn themselves around, you'll start feeling him/her again. ALSO...this past week was a quite one for him and the doctor said it's cause he was growing. BUT, I have to say as of 3 days ago, he started going nuts again with kicking and he was kicking so hard this morning my stomach was bouncing everywhere! Don't worry...unless you don't feel ANY kicks for 24 hours.

at least one movement an hour. babies sleep a lot inutero. any time you feel concerened about lack of movement though, see your doctor immediately. this could save you baby. better to be paranoid than to be naive and miss something. i used to worry all the time if i didn't feel my son move, but i was told that you don't have to worry unless you haven't felt the baby move in about 4 hrs.

You should try drinking a cold beverage, preferrably orange juice. If the little one doesn't kick at least five to ten times within thirty minutes go to the hospital or at leats call your local nurse line.
