I don't know what kind of plant it is, so here's a pic of it: http://i13.tinypic.com/2q09ftz.jpg

I bought this thing already grown from the same place I got the fish. It was a normal size when I got it ... It's only been a month and a half and now it's twice it's original size! It's so tall it's now growing across the top of my aquarium.

Can I prune it down? How? And how long after I prune it will the leaves grow back?

I wouldn't really suggest you prune the taller leaves of the plant. You can, but it would be tough on the plant and other leaves will soon grow just as tall. You just have a plant too large for your tank. The shop should be happy to swap you a nice big healthy one like that for a species more suitable to your tank height.

I don't know the name either, but I have one in my 20 gal. and I just go to the bottom and cut the stem from the base and that removes the leaf and stem, I wouldn't cut the bunch, should leave a few stems w/leaves, it might not survive the cut? Leaves laying on top should be the look? Good Luck!!><>:)
