Meaningless both, meaningful both.
I feel it strongly depends on the moment, there are certain things that are better in youth and another ones that are better when mature. Sometimes you can find so much happiness in meaningless things, kind of a zen thing.

Well if you want a meaningless life then go for the sex. If you don't want to ever accomplish anything except for demeaning yourself then go for the sex. I'd rather my life have some meaning, so going for the love. Besides it makes the sex better.
