My son is 5 months and does it. It freaks me out when he throws 1 hour after feeding because he puts his fingers too much inside and gags causing him to throw up.

So here is what I am doing. He is on a "throw up" watch for upto 1 hr after his feeding. I still let him lick his fingers but pull it out if I think he is putting it too much way inside. Other things I tried are giving him a teether or a blanket or a toy which he can put his instead of his fingers. Make sure the toy, teether you are giving does not go too much inside as my son gagged him even with it!

Dont worry your daughter will soon outgrow it!

It is very common for babies to gag themselves. They are just learning to explore their hands and of course it generates to the mouth. They have no idea sticking fingers in to far will gag them and once they have done it they do not know to just pull them out.

My youngest at 2 1/2 still gags herself at times.

That's so funny. My daughter is 14 months and still does it. I don't know why. She just sticks her finger or hand down her throat and gags. It's weird, but she never threw up. The throwing up thing doesn't sound right. You should talk to your doc about that.
But the gagging thing itself is normal.

My 7 month old son has been doing this since he was 3 months old. This is very common and nothing to worry about. Just keep a close eye!
