they attach wages because of decades of parents not paying for their children...they found the honor system doesnt work, so they passed all of these laws to ensure the child(ren) are provided for.
its not your fault, and they are not singleing you out in any way, its from decades of deadbeat parents, and the government got tired of parents not paying for thier children.
thats why....
in NY, child support is til they are 21, and may be longer if they are in college.

Why do you think she has no expenses if she’s in college? I WISH college were free (because I have a child soon to start college), but it’s not. Of course she still has expenses. Tuition, books, clothing, room and board, etc.
With that said, many states do not require a parent to pay child support after the child turns 18/graduates high school, but NY does.

Well I didnt really understand your question, but if you owe back child support, they call it "back arrears" and the gov can take it, but they should have given you a letter first to tell you what was going on.. also.. if you owe back child support they can also garnish your income tax, and they will take every penny of your taxes.
My ex husband was close to 7grand behind in taxes and w/out him working they garnished every dime of his taxes.. (2000.00) I didnt feel bad that I got the money and he didnt, id been raising his son for all his life and he couldnt get a job and pay 200 a month.. so yes the gov can garnish your wages for childsupport..

the venture is they are the two underage. Neither could make adequate to help a toddler so ultimately the grandparents are going to would desire to do it. If the daddy's mothers and dads refuse then you definately will would desire to pass to courtroom. It relies upon on interior sight regulations. If the daddy has to a pair kind of job then he will would desire to pay besides the shown fact that it specific won't purchase lots. this is unhappy because of the fact her mothers and dads will would desire to advance the toddler because of the fact a sixteen year old would be unable to. that's a undesirable venture particularly for the reason that start administration preparation is so obtainable & getting this is truly worry-free.

If you have a kid and and you make more $$ than the other spouse ALL states MAKE you pay child support. For one you don't have to put her on your insurance and two why are you complaining about having to pay for insurance on your kid. And you said that she lives for free thats why you have to pay child support YOU MAKE MORE $$ THAN SHE DOES she lived for free without kid you left and now she has to take care of the kid somehow. BUT STOP COMPLAING ABOUT PAYING INSURANCE FOR YOUR OWN SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If an 18 year old is in college, he/she is still considered a dependent (especially for tax purposes).

you aren't being treated like a criminal, you are being treated like a parent who has to take responsibility. That is just the way it is.
