endo means internal for example 'endocardium' is the innermost layer of the heart, ecto means outer for example ectopic pregnancy refers to an implantation of the foetus outside the uterus or the ectoderm as in the outer layer of the developing embryo, and cyto means cellular as in cytoplasm for the plasma found in the cell, or the cytotrophoblast,i.e. the cellular layer of the blastocyst etc.
