Yes, it is- especially when he doesn't stand a chance to even get the nomination. He should take my favorite quote to heart:
"At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent."
(Make that a wife in his case.)

That currently is his "job". Are you suggesting every one with a sick spouse should quit their jobs? Or are you asking about this individual in his specific circumstances? Why are you asking? Isn't it possible that Edwards genuinely believes he can do more good for the US and the world than he can at home holding his strong independent wife's hand?
As for your qualifier, not many NC democrats voted for Edwards in 2004, so I don't get your point. You could still be an anti-Edwards guy trying to stir muck where there is none.

Yes. I am not a politically savvy person. I have no idea really what he's all about. However, I am a wife. He should focus on her and wait until next time to run. I will not vote for him soley on this reason. However, if he stopped running this election to help his wife, it would show me what type of values he has and I don't care if he is a Republican or a Democrat that would be one thing I would look at as a positive when he ran next time.

Not at this time. Maybe in the future if she takes a turn for the worse he may have to quit.
When my Dad had cancer back in 1991 he wanted our lives to be NORMAL while he battled his disease. It took some of the pressure off HIM and let him concentrate on himself if WE were all going about our routine.
We did focus on him more than usual but he LIKED routine. The sicker he got the more time we all spent with him and we were all there in the room with him when he died...I think he appreciated that too.

I'm a NC guy, and my wife asked the same question. She thinks he should not run. But from listening to the Edwards talk about this, it seems to be more of an empowerment thing. Elizabeth doesn't want cancer to change her life any more than it has to. She believes in her husband's cause and sincerely wants him to be president. I don't think he would do it unless she were behind him 100%... he doesn't seem the type.

It is my belief that any multi-millionaire, who's wife is dying of cancer, should stop whatever he is doing and make his wife's last few years on this earth as great as he possibly can. Once again, a person with no core values. And this is not political. I don't care if he owned a widget factory.

Uh, that's a toughy. I can just imagine him getting the news and thinking how he wants to drop out of the race to be with her. Then she looks at him and says "Don't you DARE drop out on my behalf." What's a guy supposed to do? Here you have your wife, who could very well be dying, BEGGING you to run for president. What do you do?
Sure, a guy who doesn't care at all would do the same thing. But I don't think that was the case here.

Well, I'm a conservative, and I really dislike trying to judge other people like this. I will assume he's making this decision for good reasons.
That's between him, his wife and family, his conscience and his God.
Heck, and I completely disagree with Edwards, and think he's a disgrace to this country, with his socialist pap and his fraudulent medical liability lawsuits.

It is none of your business, not is it any of mine. It is a question for John & Elizabeth Edwards & NO ONE ELSE to make. I don't support him for president, his wife's health has nothing to do with it.
BTW, I'm a Republican.

I'm a republican and living in Virginia.
No I don't think that it is selfish of him at all. People fight cancer everyday. His running isn't going to stop him from being there for her. If I was fighting cancer...I would think that it would make me feel better to have life go on. Just because I'm sick...doesn't mean the rest of my family has to be.

Not at all. I don't care for Edwards, but he has made a personal choice, along with his wife. I wouldn't be surprised if she encouraged him. She probably doesn't want her illness, which already has the potential to rob him of his wife, to rob him of his dream.
