Wii and DS are the most innovative with the controls - if you're not a hardcore gamer, you'll probably enjoy playing these two the most. Most of the games released for these systems are designed to be able to be picked up and played almost immediately (without having to learn too many controls, that is). The Wii doesn't have many hardcore games out yet (Twilight Princess is, of course, wonderful and Sonic will be amazing), but more games are being released within the next few months.
As for the other systems, all I have ever heard about the PS3 is how terrible it is. I will say that the XBOX 360 is the better of these two (and is definitely better than the Wii in terms of graphics), but I wouldn't invest in it because Microsoft is probably going to release a new version of the XBOX in a year or two - meaning all that money you invested in the XBOX 360 will be put to waste. The PSP seems pretty pointless to me - you have to rebuy any [older] games you want to play or movies you want to watch so it actually works on them.
In summary, I'd go with the DS, Wii, or XBOX (probably in that order, although give the Wii a few months and it will take the lead)

I'd go for the X-Box 360. It has been out for a while and they've had time to work out all the bugs. It is always better to wait at least 6+ month to buy a new game system. That way the company has had time to work out the bugs and you will then be buying a superior system.
Although if you want to pick from the 2 giants go with a Wii

Depending on your favorite company either PS3 or xbox 360, however everyone says Wii is most fun.
Xbox has problems, PS3 is expensive, Wii is cheap and fun. You choose your pic.

I would go for the Xbox 360. More game are coming out for that system because it is easier to program games for xbox than the Ps3.

If you want a games machine then buy a Xbox360
If you want a video machine then buy a PS3
It depends what you're after, gamewise nothing compares to the 360 at the moment. Such a shame they have such a frequency of breaking on people.

It all depends on what games you like. I like a lote of the systems, but PS3 let me down... a lot. So Wii360 For me this go 'round. I also like my DS and PSP. But as I said, it really just depends on peoples likes.

i am a sony but honestly i think the xbox 360 is the better console the second best is pc.

HANDHELD : PSP
CONSOLE : WII is awsome for gameplay but no good game
so my vote goes to XBOX 360
