Freud interprets the ocean as a feminine symbol usually a womb. You are probably suffering from a hidden desire to go back to the womb because the stress of life (Jelly Fish) is to great. Many people have this issue. My wife for instance trys to climb a dark stairwell. Same symbolism. When I tell her that se laughs but Freud was no dummy. To fix it resolve any issues with your mother and father and reduce stresses in your life. 1 hour of meditation a day might help. Or a massage.

Good luck.

Don't let anyone tell you they can interpret your dreams They are Your dreams and only You know if the shoe fits.

I would guess that you must have been stung by one before at an early age (I was stung too) and it shocked you so deeply you were traumatized by it. It's nothing you can't manage unless your friends spend time at an ocean. That is a horrible event. It was for me and I was an adult. Good luck. @8-)

The best website about dreams is http://www.dreamdoctor.com/. It gives details about what different things mean in dreams, especially recurrent themes. You can research this for yourself on this site or contact the dream doctor and get a personal response.

From what I already know, floating in the ocean signifies separation from or the fear of being separated from others.

"Dreams of being attacked typically represent feelings of being attacked, emotionally, in our waking lives. If we are able to identify the attacker in our dreams, we will learn who—or what—is causing us the distress. Is the attacker someone we know? If so, we are alerted that we feel threatened (emotionally) by this person. Other common attack dreams—a man or woman being chased by males at night, someone shooting us or attacking us with a knife—may reflect literal fears of violence or vulnerability. If we resist and stand up to an attacker it is a positive sign of self-confidence and assertion. If we are attacked and are unable to defend ourselves, this reflects a feeling of powerless against whomever or whatever our attacker represents. Attackers may also represent internal struggles—“battles” with drug, alcohol, or food addictions, for example, that a person “just can’t beat.” Attackers may also represent social pressures to conform."

"Common metaphor for feelings of being “pursued” by disturbing fears and emotions. Typical chase themes include pursuit by attackers who will hurt, rape, or possibly kill the dreamer, with the dreamer then experiencing all the commotion of running away, hiding, and out-maneuvering the potential attacker. Chase dreams often end with the dreamer waking just before being caught or found. Because we awaken directly from them, chase dreams commonly are described as nightmares. Chase dreams also can reflect literal fears of physical attack, or feelings of unwanted sexual attention."
