im starting a 29 gallon goldfish tank and i was wondering how big will 2 fantails get? or how big will two comets get?
also with the fantails ive had black moors before and i really like them, but the ones ive had have been really agressive and even killed and made other fantails starve todeath. that was in a much smaller tank though. will one black moor terrorize another fantail in a 29 gallon?

Thanks

Your fantails more than not won't get larger than 8 inches comets will get a little larger.

Moors do become territorial but not all moors especially if they are added later.

If you haven't had luck with the moors, I would steer clear, however a smaller fish added last may work out fine.

Also, remember gold fish tails are not measured when it comes to water usage. A 12 inch comet can have 4-6 inches of tail depending on type, this goes the same for fantails.

Goldfish as you know need pleanty of dissolved oxygen. As long as you have either a great filter or a powerhead since these are two ways DO2 enter the tank.

Two fantails in your tank will be fine and healthy.

A 29 gallon is too small for 2, even 1 goldfish. At least a 55 is needed for 2 goldfish. Sadly, people dont understand this. If you want colder water fish I would recommend White Cloud Mountain Minnows. If a fish is kept in a tank to small, it wont grow to be too big for the tank, but it would be tortured. Sorry, hope this helps.

I would suggest going with the fancy goldfish. The comets will certainly out grow your tank in short order. A 29 will support 2 adult fancy goldfish with careful and frequent cleanings. Black moors are generally speaking just as docile as other goldfish, but of course there can be a nasty one in the batch. I would suspect your previous problems would not be repeated in this case.

fantails get about 8 inches, and comets get 16 inches. lol, don't worry, you can bring them back before they get that big... ;)
