Have new 12" memoryfoam mattress and would like to keep total height of mattress from floor similar to what it was with my former innerspring mattress. But do I risk damage or shortened life to the memory foam mattress if I put it over a regular box spring base? (as compared to puting over a solid plywood base or perhaps over the special "low profile" box springs [that have No springs!] that are now commonly sold to go with memory foam or thick latex mattresses.)
Thanks for your thoughtful feedback!

I think that using the box springs would be fine IF you put a sheet of 3/4 " plywood over the top of the box springs first.
