If you can have the ticket remedied by taking Defensive Driving, it may not impact your insurance. Usually Defensive Driving is allowed once every 24 months as a resolution to a speeding ticket or other minor infraction. Check your local restrictions.

Yes, each ticket and/or accident raises your rate. If you are young then it will raise your rate at a higher rate. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

Please remember that insurance companies are in business to make money, not to provide a service. They can and do use any reason under the sun to charge more and to pay less.
