It's good that alot of people recognize where Bryant's moves and general technique come from. Imitation, after all, is the best form of flattery. It is also good that we are giving credit where credit is due. MJ's moves took years of practice and experience to perfect but he was humble enough to acknowledge that those same moves were derived from players who came before him including his immediate peers who he was able to compete against like Dr. J, Magic and Bird.
What separates the true legend from the poser is his ability to recognize where he came from and who he emulated to get to the top of his game. Unfortunately Bryant's not that player. Jordan is.

Kobe is a wannabe Michael Jordan when in reality he's not good enough to wash Jordan's jock strap. I even saw him lick his tongue in Jordanesque fashion one game. He even pumps his fist like His Airness when he hit a big shot. He's nothing like Elgin Baylor or Magic Johnson. He's nothing like Jordan either. Jordan made everyone around him better, Kobe is still learning to do that. Ever heard of guys like Cliff Levingston, Bobby Hansen, Luc Longley, Will Perdue, Randy Brown, and Jud Buechler before (or after) they played with MJ? Kobe has yet to elevate the game of others around him. Even if he does, he'll never be on either MJ's level or Elgin Baylors level. Good luck trying Kobe.

What are all you Kobe haters going to do when EXPERTS complie another list like the 50 greatest and Kobe is #2 behind jordan or dare i say #1? All the greats he will be in front of and surpass. I for one will love it just to see the fourms and answers on how he sucks. I bet most you think you can school him one on one right? because he sucks right? The guy has three rings! oh i forgot, he only has them because of shaq so they dont count, so lets strip away pippens rings to since we saw what happened when jordan left and it was pippens team. Oh lets also rip D-Wades away because he was with Shaq as well. Or should we rip shaqs away for rideing wades coatails, no wade=no title, so it seemes to me that Shaq cant win one with out a side kick, niether could jordan, neither did Kobe, but Kobe has another shot with this new Laker team and next year if they can stay healthy lakers will be title contenders, but then you people will say it's because of Odom.

Perhaps he idolizes Magic and Elgin as former Laker heroes, but in terms of his individual skills, Kobe imitates Michael because he can. Why not copy Jordan? Not many people can do that.

the reason what he change his jersey number to 24 was so he could start his image all over and there's a lot of players who have similar skills that Michael Jordan had so kobe is not coping jordan he just has similar skills like jordan

"Showbe" has always been about his image. I've noticed that about him ever since he came into the league. Everything about him is an imitation of MJ. His moves (especially his jump shot), his mannerisms, even the way he conducts himself in interviews! He has always been a fake, a fugazy!
I've always hated him because of that. He tries to project himself to be this "perfect" role-model who never makes a mistake and when he got accused of rape in 2003, tried to use that fake image to bail himself out of trouble.
Great player yes, but I never liked the guy- he's just too fake!!

Even he is smart enough not to go there. I think he changed his # to prove that he is the most popular player in the league. How many people went out to buy the jersey once it hit the shelves. Gets him off I guess.

Whether you like Kobe as a person or not, there is no denying he has talent and can play ball. No matter who's moves he uses.

He's worried about his image more than anything. He's a fake. Right from the start in the league he has immitated jordan. even when he's interviewed.
