my pride and apply to retail jobs? I don't have really any experience in that; so far, I've worked in administrative type jobs since receiving my Bachelor's years ago. Even if I were to apply for retail work, I think I may not be taken seriously since they would think I would bail out (which is true...LOL) at the drop of a hat if I obtained a full time position in corporate America. I'd appreciate your input.

You don't state what your degree is in. That would help.

First off, why are you without a job at present? Second, what do you enjoy doing? It is said that if you have a job you enjoy, you will never have to "work" a day in your life. You may have to start at the bottom and work up or instead of trying to go through the front door, try a side door.

Networking can be one of your greatest resources. It is a wise person that, while working in any job, develop this skill by paying attention to those that come through the doors and make their acquaintance, you never know when that ever so brief meeting may come in handy.

If all else fails, check your pride and any arrogance at the door. Both come through loud and clear to a good interviewer. Neither of them translate to hard worker, loyal, quick thinker, or trusted.

Try enlisting as a volunteer in africa. You may get a chance to work in a very senior level with a wide variety of companies and NGOs.YOu will gain good experence and credibility and may have the time to apply for jobs without undue pressure or fear of not being taken seriously. All the best.

You have to ask yourself one question. Do you need the job to pay bills? Are you financially strapped? If so, then I would be a chauffeur, the pay is good and could be flexible enough for you to continue your job search.

Hope this helps.

i'd ask the following: what was your degree? what types of jobs are you applying for? are they out of your area of 'expertise'? and most importantly, how well do you really interview?
